The Cretan Corner- olive oil / Traditional Cretan Products in Maleme, Chania Crete

Odysseas Elytis, born in 1911 in Heraklion, Crete, was one of the most important Greek poets. He once said: “If you disintegrate Greece, in the end you will see that you are left with an olive tree, a vineyard and a boat. Which means: with so much more you can rebuild it. “

In “Cretan Corner_olive oil_Maleme”, not only do we continue the work of our grandfather, but we are inspired by our great poet, and we make sure that in our store there are only exceptional Cretan products, made by small producers, with emphasis on quality and not quantity.

The cultivation of olives by our family.

Our family’s olive cultivation started about 300 years ago, where our great-great-grandparents were among the first residents of Leventohori village, which was later renamed Livadia. Our family’s olive groves are located in the wider area of the village of Omala and Maleme, Chania.

The village church is dedicated to Agios Dimitrios, which was first renovated in 1742.[2]
